Profile

Jindy Bhalla is a partner at Edwards, Kenny & Bray LLP. He joined EKB in 2003 after practising with Campney & Murphy for several years, and serving as partner at another major Vancouver law firm for 10 years.

An accomplished Vancouver commercial lawyer, Mr. Bhalla’s experience encompasses all aspects of commercial real estate, in particular, on the purchase and sale of commercial properties, the development of commercial, industrial and multi-family residential projects, syndications and leasing matters as well as corporate and commercial and environmental matters.

Mr. Bhalla has also represented banks, trust companies, life insurance companies, and provincial and municipal governments. His clients include local, national and international investors, developers, and corporations. In addition, Mr. Bhalla has extensive experience with the re-development and sale of surplus lands and brownfields.

Representative Experience

  • Advice on the structuring of real estate projects, including co-ownerships, syndications, limited partnerships, trusts and corporations
  • Counsel for the development and sale of various real estate projects such as phased developments, industrial developments, residential and mixed use projects, and a master planned community
  • Representation for the purchase and sale of various commercial, industrial and residential projects, including the sale of approximately 70 acres of re-developed industrial land in Richmond, BC, the purchase of two hotels and a hotel/multi-family/recreational development site in Whistler, BC, the purchase and sale of numerous office buildings, industrial and retail centres, and multi-family residential buildings in Vancouver, BC, and throughout Greater Vancouver, and the sale of industrial lands in Alberta
  • Counsel for landlords and tenants in negotiating and settling leases for office and retail buildings, shopping centres, and industrial and recreational properties
  • Counsel for the resource sector on a wide variety of real-estate-related matters, including all aspects relating to the acquisition and development of power generation, co-generation, and energy transmission infrastructure projects, the disposition of large tracts of forested lands, the acquisition of rights of way, timber and under-surface rights, and the re-development of former industrial sites

Mr. Bhalla contributes his time and expertise to several professional organizations and speaks on various law matters. A highly regarded member of the legal community, Mr. Bhalla has served as:
