Profile

E. Lilac Bosma is a partner at Edwards, Kenny & Bray LLP, joining EKB in 2002 after articling with the firm and completing a clerkship with the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Ms. Bosma has a civil litigation practice with a focus on employment, human rights, and construction law as well as contractual disputes. Ms. Bosma also practices in the area of administrative law.

She has represented clients in various levels of court, including the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia and the Federal Court of Canada.

Representative Experience


  • Representation of employers in disputes before the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal

  • Counsel to a US company regarding the termination of individuals employed in Canada

  • Counsel for a former chartered accountant partner in a case which involved compensation entitlement:  Lilly v. Johannessan, 2004 BCSC 1133

  • Counsel for a civil engineer in a suit for wrongful dismissal: Schmidt v. AMEC Earth and Environmental Ltd., 2004 BCSC 1012

  • Counsel for contractors and owners related to construction disputes

  • Counsel for manufacturer of construction materials in complex multi-party litigation relating to alleged construction deficiencies

  • Counsel for an owner in a strata plan in dispute relating to payment for necessary repairs

  • Counsel for two pharmacies seeking judicial review of the Ministry of Health’s decision to terminate the pharmacies’ agreements

Professional & Community Activities

Ms. Bosma is a member of the Administrative Law, Civil Litigation, Employment Law and Women Lawyers Forum sections of the Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch). Prior to articling with Edwards, Kenny & Bray LLP, Ms. Bosma served as a Law Clerk at the British Columbia Supreme Court, performing legal research for judges.

Among her accomplishments, Ms. Bosma was a legal researcher and member of the University of British Columbia’s Law Team that received first place honours in the overall competition and best overall factum categories during the 1998-99 National Corporate Securities Competitive Moot.
