Douglas K. Harrison is an associate counsel and senior solicitor at Edwards, Kenny & Bray LLP.

Mr. Harrison is an accomplished corporate and commercial solicitor, who has also worked in partnership with other members of the firm on several complex litigations. His practice focuses on business, commercial real estate, construction, banking and municipal law. Mr. Harrison has extensive experience in all areas of business law, as well as a strong background in negotiating effectively with government representatives on property use issues.

A former advisor to the Attorney General of British Columbia, Mr. Harrison has also served as a legal advisor in the BC Ministry of Consumer & Corporate Affairs. In 1977, he became the regional counsel for Genstar Corporation, one of the largest conglomerate corporations in Canada at the time. It was during his tenure at Genstar that Mr. Harrison developed his appreciation for the need to integrate business objectives with law, recognizing the myriad legal alternatives that can be employed to optimize business goals.

Mr. Harrison is currently the primary counsel for Genstar Development Company, one of the leading land development companies in Canada, and provides legal advice and services to other land developers in British Columbia.

Professional & Community Activities

Mr. Harrison is a well-regarded speaker and author on a range of legal issues, including limited liability partnerships, due diligence, and contaminated sites legislation. He has lectured on municipal and environmental law for the Canadian Institute and other organizations, and has authored papers for environmental and administrative law seminars and publications.

A member of the Real Property, Environmental, Construction, Municipal, Banking, and Business Law sections of the Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch), Mr. Harrison also serves on the Environmental Committee of the Urban Development Institute (BC).
