How to Apply

EKB seeks well-rounded students with strong academic records, extra-curricular experience, and personal qualities that likely make them compatible with other members of the firm.

EKB normally hires two students to bring fresh talent, new perspectives, and enthusiasm for the law. When the students complete their articling and training, EKB hopes to hire these promising legal professionals.

Articling Application Process

We receive and review applications and interview candidates according to the guidelines established by the Vancouver Bar Association and The Law Society of British Columbia. Guidelines for articling applications are available on the VBA website.

Interested candidates should send an application that includes: a resume, a cover letter, and copies of your law school and other post-secondary transcripts. Please address your application to the head of our student program:

Application Tips

Applying for an articling position is different from other professions. There are several required components to the application and interview process. For your convenience, we have provided suggested guidelines to help you prepare your application for EKB.

A cover letter is an important part of your articling application. We gain our first impression of you based on how well you communicate your level of professionalism. Both your cover letter and resume should work as a complete marketing package:

  • Specify the position you are applying for
  • Indicate the practice areas you may be interested in
  • Describe any attributes or previous work experience that qualify you for the position
  • Proofread your cover letter several times for typographical and grammatical errors

We are no longer accepting applications for 2022 summer students and will not be accepting applications for full articles for 2022-2023.
