Kirstn Mase maintains a labour, employment and human rights practice as an associate lawyer and as a member of EKB’s litigation group. She represents both employees and employers in workplace law matters. Regardless of industry, employers and employees will have to navigate disputes. Kirstn works closely with her clients, helping them to resolve problems early on so that they can return their focus to the workplace.

Having previously articled at a national firm, Kirstn joined EKB to finish her articles. Working with the rest of the EKB litigation team, she is committed to providing results-focused legal services.

Kirstn received her JD from the University of Victoria. Prior to this, she received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, which she attended on an athletic scholarship.

Kirstn’s experience includes:

  • Representing employers and employees in dispute resolution processes, including arbitrations and mediations, disputes before the British Columbia Provincial Court and British Columbia Supreme Court, and disputes before the human rights tribunal.
  • Advising on employment issues in business transactions.
  • Drafting employment and independent contractor agreements.
  • Representing employees and employers in various employment matters including wrongful dismissal, unjust dismissal, human rights issues, and breach of non-solicitation and non-competition clauses.
  • Advising employees and employers on the impact of COVID-19 on the workplace.
  • Drafting employment policies.
  • Advising employers on issues related to workplace policies, privacy issues, discipline, WorkSafe BC compliance, employee misconduct, accommodation, and terminations of employment.
  • Advising and representing clients on WorkSafe BC issues.
  • Advising clients on Employment Standards Act issues.
