COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

From the beginning, EKB has been committed to giving back. Our tradition of leadership extends beyond the firm to the community at large.

Our lawyers and staff believe in serving their communities. Many support a variety of pro bono associations, charitable organizations, and community boards and groups.

Pro Bono

Access to legal services is out of reach for many in our society. EKB believes that our commitment to providing sound legal advice extends beyond the boardroom. A number of our lawyers and staff devote their free time volunteering for Access Pro Bono, People’s Law School, Justice Education Society, and other organizations.

Charitable Giving And Volunteering

EKB serves our community by volunteering for various community groups, churches, and charitable organizations, such as:

  • Royal Canadian Legion Branch 263
  • The Ladies’ Auxiliary
  • Thrift Store Group
  • Canadian Blood Services
  • Pacific Academy
  • The Arthritis Society
  • The Firehall Art Centre
  • WISH Drop-In Centre
  • Various youth athletic teams through coaching and management
  • Various youth arts groups

Greensleeves Place Of Safety

Greensleeves Place of Safety is a home that provides care for abused and abandoned children in the city of East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Run by a couple with no government funding, they support these children by providing housing, education, health care, and a loving and supportive environment through funds from organizations, donations, and volunteers alone.

EKB holds fundraising events to support Greensleeves. Everyone at the firm has been incredibly generous in their support to ensure that a cheque is sent at Christmas every year.
